MSc Subsurface Energy Systems

The last exams for the first cohort of our new MSc Subsurface Energy Systems at Heriot-Watt University are marked. The students are currently teaming up and apply their new knowledge to plan a field development for a #CCS project before finishing with dissertations on #geoenergy for the #energytransition

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Cairn Energy PLC for generously sponsoring scholarships and our fantastic guest lecturers:
Marcella Dean, John Eichelberger, Yan Lavallee, Maria-Daphne Mangriotis, John M., Alison Monaghan, Christopher Rochelle, Margarita Segou, Mike Spence Owain Tucker

Almost 50 years ago, the MSc Petroleum Engineering was launched at what was then IPE. It is still going strong, and its graduates had and have a big impact on industry and academia alike. Let the MSc Subsurface Energy Systems take that role in the #energytransition for what is now the Institute of Geoenergy Engineering. I have no doubt about the talent of our #students. Let me close with a quote from one of them:

“This program has been a pleasure to study. It had the perfect balance of #engineering and #geology whilst also incorporating economics, social and environmental aspects. The lecturers are world leading and you really feel you are studying the cutting edge of research.”
